USA Cycling Uses Conduit Community Toolbar to Connect with Customers
Redwood Shores, CA – November 5, 2007 - Conduit, the leading platform for building online communities via community toolbars, today announced that USA Cycling and Conduit were named as finalists in the inaugural Forrester Groundswell Awards, the first awards program to recognize excellence in business uses of social technologies. Winners and finalists were chosen across seven categories that comprise the main goals Forrester Research recommends companies consider as reasons to use social technologies to interact with customers. USA Cycling and Conduit were honored in the “Talking” category for demonstrating business effectiveness in connecting with customers in new ways, extending PR and marketing.
USA Cycling implemented its Conduit-powered community toolbar to communicate with its cycling fans, and, most importantly, connect them to key events. The organization marketed the free toolbar to the many website users and cycling fans who were unable to attend, but interested in viewing the races and receiving up-to-the-minute notifications on race happenings. In less than a month, USA Cycling reported that the toolbar drove more traffic to its website and repeatedly engaged its website users, proving its effectiveness as a next-generation digital marketing tool.
The results of USA Cycling’s social technology project included:
- Over 82% of existing fans downloaded the toolbar
- In the month leading up to the race, the site received 3 million hits as compared with 73,103 hits from the previous year
- During the race itself, the site received 6 million hits – most from clicking through from the toolbar
“It is a great honor to be included in the first Forrester Groundswell Awards alongside other innovators using social applications to deliver business value to their customers,” said Ronen Shilo, CEO of Conduit. “USA Cycling is an outstanding example of the results that can be achieved with our community toolbars, and we are very pleased to be able to work with the organization in breaking new ground in the social technology space.”
The Forrester Groundswell Awards are an outgrowth of the book Groundswell, to be published in 2008 by Harvard Business School Press. Written by two of the most respected and well-known Forrester analysts, Josh Bernoff and Charlene Li, Groundswell will focus on effective business strategies in a world transformed by social technologies and will feature the types of case studies recognized by the Forrester Groundswell Awards.
